A WOF INSPECTION A WOF inspection pass means the brakes have passed on that day at that time. It is not a guarantee that your brakes will last for another 6 months. CHANGING FRONT BRAKE DISCS

Disc brakes on front of cars wear rate is dependant on how much & how heavy your vehicle is, how fast you drive and how hard you use your brakes to slow you down. Some customers wear out their front brake pads after approx 15,000 k's, some lower and some get 40,000 k's. If you leave your foot hovering on the brake pedal then your brakes will not last as long.

The more you use your brakes the quicker the brake disc will wear. Some disc brake (brake rotors) only have approximately 1mm of wear from new to being undersize, (0.5mm per side of that brake disc) some have approximately 2mm. The more thickness the brake discs have when new the more times they can be machined before they reach the minimum thickness and can then no longer be machined. Refer to "BRAKE DISCS & BRAKE DRUM MACHINING" page.

If you ignore this minimum thickness set down by the manufacturers and fit new brake disc pads to undersize discs then before the brake disc pads are worn out the brake pad can slip out of the brake pad cradle which may mean you have no brakes on that wheel and you can cause un-repairable damage to other brake parts like the calliper.

Brakes without pads could cause an accident. The undersize disc (brake disc front or disc brake rear) can also fracture and a chunk fall out.
